Wominjeka

Wominjeka means welcome in the language of the Wurundjeri people, the traditional owners of this land.

The Royal Melbourne Zoological Gardens, commonly known as the Melbourne Zoo, is located at Elliott Avenue, Parkville, Victoria in 1862. It comprises approximately 22 hectares and houses over 300 different animal species from around the world. You can visit the gorilla rainforest, see koalas and kangaroos in an Australian bush setting (check out the 'thong tree'), interact with meerkats in their new enclosure, watch the orang-utans swinging through the trees, walk with the Asian elephants through their majestic enclosure, and lots more. It is a chance to discover more about all these animals and their habitats. Melbourne Zoo is one of the most established and best known city zoos in the world.
